Wow, "stuff" is happening now, and it's happening fast.... I know earlier this week, when I posted about the move, it seemed like some nebulous, far off event, but it looks like the seller is going to accept our offer, so the time to start packing & clearing out has arrived!
I will be closing the business to new orders, as I have to start packing inventory, etc - orders that are in the system as of now, I will try my best to fill, but from here on in, the business is in "part time" mode, because we have to have our current home de-cluttered and on the market within 30 days of the seller accepting our offer.
I'm hoping this whole process goes according to plan, with a minimum of fuss & BS (yeah, right, when does that ever happen?) and be pretty much established in the new shop by Halloween, so I can potentially be open again for the Christmas season....fingers crossed.....
On the subject of "moving on", if you recall a few blog entries ago, I was talking about my acquiring another nostalgic trademark. The original plan was to use the name if I opened a store after the move, but while the web-site is closed to new orders, I may re-configure it to go with the new trademark. Since I've expanded into so many other areas, besides the Barclay figures, the revised website may have the feel of visiting an old time dimestore, where all the stuff we carry was originally sold. So, if I don't re-do the website under the Barclay name, it will be under the new trademark I acquired: McCrory's (I wanted Woolworth, but the name is still an actual active corporate entity)
Speaking of "moving on", let me get back to work with the mountain of "stuff" with my name on it.... Will keep you posted as things progress, see you in cyber-land!
I've been purchasing from you for quite a few years now. My wife's grandmother (from Seaford, NY) gave her Christmas village to my wife about nine years ago. There were some other cousins the liked this village, but grandma decided to give the set to my wife. I never saw anything like the little metal figures in the village, so I curiosity let me to research where and if I could find them. I quickly found your website and every so often purchased a few figurines.
