    This antique style German advent calendar features a traditional nativity scene unfolding in the courtyard of a castle. The detailed picture has 24 doors, each with a small illustration behind it. Children delight as they open a door each day and countdown to Christmas.  
    The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today.
    This calendar was printed in Germany, by the Richard Sellmer Publishing Co., in Stuttgart. Founded by Richard Sellmer in 1945, it remains family owned & operated, after 75 years.
