This German advent calendar with glitter accents depicts the Rathaus, the town hall in Hamburg, Germany at Christmas.  The details of the town hall are carefully reproduced on paper in fine detail.  Multiple Christmas trees (one real, one constructed of lights) brighten the square brimming with Christmas market booths and people.  The setting sun glows in the sky and echo's the colors of the market.
Windows of this calendar reveal other famous buildings, landmarks & symbols of Hamburg
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today.
This calendar was printed in Germany, by the Richard Sellmer Publishing Co., in Stuttgart. Founded by Richard Sellmer in 1945, it remains family owned & operated, after 75 years.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door has a little picture behind it. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
