    This German advent calendar with glitter accents depicts children building snowmen and playing in a snow castle as flakes softly fall in the winter sky.  A Christmas tree glows in the center of the scene with a hedgehog helping with the decorations while a child pulls a sled of gifts. h their friends.  A man drives a sleigh full of timber as the setting sun colors the sky and snow.

    The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today.
    This calendar was printed in Germany, by the Richard Sellmer Publishing Co., in Stuttgart. Founded by Richard Sellmer in 1945, it reamins family owned & operated, after 75 years.
     The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door has a little picture behind it. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
